Now, my friend, listen up.

100 metric ton’s of dispel oil spill into rivers from CNPC pipeline. The pipeline has leaked vast amount of oil to one the main rivers–Yellow rivers, threatening the nation’s drinking water. The state media reported today.

The spill occurred near the confluence of the Chishui and Wei rivers in the northern province of Shanxi, about 70 km upstream from the Yellow river.

Downstream from the spill, the Henan provincial government has set up a special working team to monitor water quality and ensure the safety of drinking water supplies.

Are you in renewable energy field? If you are, congratulations! 2010 is going to be a GOOD YEAR for you! Why? China needs you!

“China announced new regulations to increase the use of renewable energy such as wind and hydropower by forcing electricity-grid operators to prioritize their use, in a bid by the world’s top greenhouse-gas emitter to reduce it’s reliance on coal.

The new regulations will force powerful state-owned electric grid companies, responsible for distributing electricity from power plants, to buy all the electricity generated from renewable sources even when it is more expensive and more complicated to use than electricity from coal-fired plants.

The government’s efforts have encouraged a boom in renewable energy development in China that has added more generation capacity than China’s electricity grid has been using. That has left between a quarter and a third of China’s wind farms stranded.”

As you see, China is going to have a huge demand on renewable energy and related technology.

Here are some numbers to extend what I said. Coal currently accounts for 70% of China’s total energy use, China wants to increase use of renewable-energy sources to 15% of its total by 2020, up from 9% last year. In the following 10 years, China will focus on growing and using renewable energy to reach this goal.

China needs solutions and here is your opportunity. Right now, China faces difficulties implementing it. China’s electricity-grid operators need to develop a smarter network to handle how to dispatch electricity generated by wind or solar energy, which fluctuates widely depending on weather patterns, and to relate it to demand for power, which swings in different cycles. If you and your company are interested in this opportunity and share this big pie of Chinese renewable energy market, let’s talk about it.

My Energy and Environmental department in Shanghai focus on helping foreign companies to get into Chinese energy market. I also would like to hear your opinions on Chinese renewable energy market and how you look at it from your perspective. Please call me at (919) 521-5253 or email me lily@yangconsulting.com to discuss about it. For more information, please visit our website at www.yangconsulting.com.

I wish you to have a Happy and Successfully 2010!

Look forward to hearing from you soon.

Lily

I am borrowing this headline from Wall Street newspaperthis week. On the newspaper it stated that the alcohol market expanding 22% in 2009 versus last year. This figure is quite impressed in this tough economy environment. This makes wine attractive even if it just keeps pace with other drinks. And if the economic recovery continues, wine is likely to become more popular, partifularly among the growing urban middle class.

More and more Chinese people start recoganizing, accepting and purchasing wine, I think there are two main reasons:
1. Health benefit. The doctor says one glass of wine per day may reduce the risk of heart disease, just because of that, even my anti-alcohol father start drinking wine now.
2. Western culture’s inflence. Young generation like to pursue western culture, they think wine tasting is not only taste wine but also to show a gasture of morden life style and an elegant way to social.

So who stands to gain more from this trend? French wine is at leading position in the import wine industries particularly on red wine. The popularity of red Bordeaux wine led to a near 15-fold increase in wine imports to China from France between 2002 to 2008. China is now the eighth-largest importer of Bordeaux globally. Australia is the second large importer, then it’s italy and Chille, U.S. at fifth position which still have a lot of room to grow.

For U.S. wine industry wanting to exposure to the chinese consumer, betting that a segment of drinkers Westernize their tastes as they become more affluent makes sense.

You may ask how to catch this opportunity to get into Chinese market. Well, sounds like a simple question but the answer is not simple at all, it takes step by step to get there. you can go to our website www.yangconsulting.com to check out market expansion page for more information. if still not cleared, please call or email us. Your comments of this article is always very welcome and very important to us.

A reminder: at new year eve, when you drink a glass of delicious wine to celebrate, pause for a second to think about it, this glass of wine not just bring you a great taste but also a great profit in it…

Happy New Year!

Beginning March 2010, foreign firms and individuals will be allowed to set up limited partnerships in China by themselves or with local partners, potentially making it easier for overseas investors to tap the domestic Chinese market. But, there are limits in that it will not apply fully to “investment-oriented” partnerships. This is because the State Council hasn’t yet determined the risks involved and whether strict rules need to be adopted first. Registration of these limited partnerships will take place at the local level and will not need approval from the Ministry of Commerce.

In an October 28 news article from Kiplinger, it states that while automobile sales are declining in the US, GM’s passenger car sales are up 30% this year and Ford’s are up 25% in China. It’s already GM’s largest foreign market and it is predicted to be Ford’s top market as well. Are US automobile manufacturers producing cars in China or will they be likely to soon because of the low cost of manufacturing there? What’s your take? Will any of the big 3 automakers end up like Jaguar, being bought by Tada Motors in India? An article in the October, 2009 issue of Fortune magazine states that Geely, an ambitious, privately owned automaker based in Hangzhou, just south of Shanghai, was interested in buying Volvo’s car business from Ford. Will any of the big 3 become Chinese companies?

From today’s Raleigh News & Observer, it states that NC Gov. Beverly Perdue and eleven legislators are in China right now. Why are they there and whaat is the significance? The article explains that they are visiting as part of a trade trip program organized by the University of North Carolina’s Center for International Understanding. They will be visiting SAS’ Beijing R&D operation. SAS, for those who don’t know, is the world’s largest privately held software company. Why do you suppose they are doing business in China and why is Gov. Perdue interested?

The article goes on to say that “Lawmakers aim to learn more about a country and culture with which North Carolina must compete for jobs and business.” Tell us, do you believe that only larger companies should expand into China?

And for companies in manufacturing, many times the cost of labor and materials is far less expensive in China, minimizing the shipping costs that may be associated with your product.

American companies doing business in China are on the rise. As an example, Charlotte NC based Duke Energy signed a deal last Friday with ENN group, who operates in over 80 cities in China to develop commercial solar projects in the US, concentrating on large utility-scale farms and other commercial solar projects.	“China is investing heavily in clean energy, and we can make greater progress in the U.S. by joining forces and working together,” Duke Energy CEO Jim Rogers said in a statement.

Tell us what you think of doing business with China and how it might help to expand your business.
